How do I/my child sign up for lessons?
Please register your interest via our contact form or via email at salutsalutfrancais@gmail.com. Each new student enquiry is evaluated individually, based on type of lesson, level of student, location and availability. All potential students must complete a free Intro Consult with a tutor prior to starting on-going lessons.
How do I book an Intro Consult?
You can book an Intro Consult directly here or contact us at salutsalutfrancais@gmail.com.
Do you offer beginner lessons?
We do work with beginner level students for both primary and supplemental lessons. If a potential student is an absolute beginner and interested in starting their French journey with Salut! Salut!, we ask that they please contact us directly to discuss options with a tutor.
Do you offer group lessons?
We will consider group lessons on a per-case basis. In order for a group lesson to be considered, potential students must possess the same level of French and be of similar age, and they must demonstrate a commitment to regularly attending lessons and studying French both in and out of the classroom. These lessons are charged per student, typically at a primary lesson rate. Please contact us directly for enquiries and more information.
If you are a parent with multiple children studying French, we recommend booking private lessons for each student back-to-back, to ensure each child receives personalised tuition.
What ages can students start studying French with Salut! Salut!?
We mainly work with high school and university students, as well as adults learners. Our youngest learners are typically around 10 years old.
What is an Intro Consult?
An Intro Consult is a complementary, 20-30 minute session where a Salut! Salut! tutor will review a potential student’s previous and current French studies (if applicable) to better determine their current level. The tutor and student will discuss the student’s academic, linguistic, and/or cultural goals and interests, as well as any areas of difficulty in their language learning.
What should I/my child bring to an Intro Consult?
Intro Consults may be conducted either in-person or online, depending on availability. Potential students must bring the following items to the consultation:
- completed Intro Consult form (either printed or sent via email to Salut! Salut!)
- any textbooks, coursework, and/or syllabi from current or previous French language studies (this could include tests, homework assignments/projects, textbooks, etc.)
What is your payment policy? Can I pay for lessons in advance?
Payment per lesson must be made in full either up front or at the time of each lesson (by either direct deposit or cash). If a payment is not received by the end of the scheduled lesson time, the student may not book another lesson until the outstanding payment has been received by the tutor.
We do accept advanced payments for multiple lessons; however we request that new students start with per-lesson payments. In the event that advanced payment is made for multiple lessons and one of the prepaid lessons is cancelled*, then the payment will rollover to the following lesson.
*The advanced payment for cancelled lesson will only rollover in the event that the cancellation is made 24hrs prior to the affected lesson. Please see our cancellation policy for further information.
What is your cancellation policy?
Salut! Salut! French Tutoring requires at least 24 hours’ notice of cancellation. Students may notify their tutor via phone or email.
Students may cancel a lesson without charge up to 24hrs before the scheduled lesson time. Cancellations made within 24hrs of the scheduled lesson are subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to 50% of the regular lesson fee. Last minute cancellations (within 2hrs of the scheduled lesson) and no-shows will be charged the full amount.
Lessons start and finish at the time agreed upon between the tutor and student. If a student arrives late to a lesson, the tutor may not be able to teach longer than the initial scheduled time. If a student is running late, please ensure to notify your tutor via phone or text as soon as possible.
