Salut! Salut! French Tutoring started in 2015 as a casual tutoring service in Ann Arbor, MI (USA), after founder Sierra Koepele returned from a summer living in Montréal, QC (Canada). 

Sierra began learning French at the age of four, and thanks to her family’s French-speaking au pairs and after multiple holidays to visit friends and family in France, she was hooked on the language and culture. 

An avid French student in high school, she did a short exchange near Fontainebleau before going on to minor in French at Michigan State University, frequently traveling to Québec on school holidays.

In 2015, she moved to Montréal for the summer before returning back to the States to apply to the TAPIF program, for a teaching assistantship in France. While offered a position with TAPIF, she decided instead to work with a family in Hendaye, a town on the French-Spanish border in Pays Basque. 

Upon returning to NYC in late 2016, she became actively involved in the francophone community there, and again frequented her home-away-from-home, Montréal. 

In 2018, Sierra moved to the Gold Coast and brought Salut! Salut! with her, where she has been sharing her passion for and knowledge of the French language and Francophone culture ever since.

Our approach

Since 2015, Salut! Salut! French Tutoring has provided supplemental, private and small group tuition to French students in the United States and Australia. We specialise in providing academic support for students taking French classes through school or other institutions. We pride ourselves in offering tuition tailored specifically to each student’s academic and linguistic needs and goals.

We also work with young francophones looking to maintain their French despite living in an English-speaking environment, and offer tuition for students preparing to live or study overseas in a French-speaking country.
